Russian state media reported the discovery through officials, but did not present independent evidence of the missile.
The United States announced an initiative in December to strengthen maritime security in the Red Sea, which is a route for 12% of world trade.
The bulk carrier was hit by several missiles on Wednesday. It is the first attack with fatalities since the terrorist group began targeting boats in the area last November.
The ship was attacked on February 18 by a missile launched from Yemen and has since been adrift in the waters of the Red Sea.
