Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City. With a speech focused on progressive policies such as creating a network of state supermarkets and raising the corporate tax rate from 7.25% to 11.5%, he cemented himself as one of the strongest Democratic voices nationally. With his image at the center of public debate, statements and writings by his father, Mahmood Mamdani, began to transcend.

Suddenly, the Columbia University government professor began to see his past writings and social media posts go viral. For starters, he sits on the advisory board of the Gaza Tribunal, an anti-Israel organization that accuses the Jewish state of committing "genocide."

Regarding Israel, he also signed a letter supporting an international boycott against it. That is, it seeks to promote international sanctions and encourage disinvestment in the country. According to Influence Watch, this is a campaign to "delegitimize the State of Israel as an expression of the Jewish people's right to national self-determination by economically isolating the country through consumer boycotts, withdrawal of corporate and government investment, and legal sanctions."

In 2021, he wrote the following on his X account, at the time Twitter: "The resistance this time began in Jerusalem and spread to Gaza, now the West Bank and Palestinian communities beyond. This is not a conflict between Israel and Hamas. We are witnessing something far more meaningful, the birth of the Third Intifada against settler colonialism!"

"Good Muslim, Bad Muslim"

Mahmood Mamdani is the author of the book "Good Muslim, Bad Muslim," in which he reflected on those terrorists who immolate themselves for their respective causes.

"Suicide bombing needs to be understood as a feature of modern political violence rather than stigmatized as a mark of barbarism," wrote the father of Zohran Mamdani, adding that the "suicide bomber" must be recognized as a "soldier."

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree"

Bill Ackmann, founder of Pershing Square Capital, reacted on X about Zohran Mamdani's father's statements, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

He was joined by Shaun Maguire, partner at Sequoia Capital. "Zohran's delightful father Mahmood loves to justify suicide bombing and advocates for Intifada and blames 9/11 on America and calls for violence on the streets," he said.
