An attack by gunfire that occurred Wednesday at a facility of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas left two detainees dead and one wounded. According to sources cited by Fox News, the attacker was identified as Joshua Jahn, 29, who opened fire from a nearby building before taking his own life.

According to the report, Jahn shot three detainees who were in an unmarked transport van and was later found lifeless on a nearby rooftop with a rifle. The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, shared on X an image showing rifle ammunition engraved with an "anti-ICE" message, suggesting a political motivation behind the attack.

This incident occurred just a few miles from Prairieland, Texas, where two months ago another attack on an ICE facility left 16 people charged with ambushing a police officer in response to reports of vandalism. Patel noted in his statement that these politically motivated attacks on law enforcement are not an isolated event and assured that the FBI will lead the investigations to bring those responsible to justice.

"Despicable assault on order and the law"

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called the attack a "despicable assault on order and the law," attributing the violence to an atmosphere of radicalization fostered by political speeches. For his part, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the state will continue to support immigration officials and that this incident "will NOT slow our arrest, detention, & deportation of illegal immigrants."

Vice President JD Vance and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also condemned the attack, criticizing rhetoric comparing ICE to oppressive regimes and highlighting the work of agents in keeping communities safe.
