Gringos Locos surprisingly closes all its locations in Orlando after 17 years in business

Gringos Locos, one of the most beloved restaurants in Orlando's nightlife scene, has abruptly closed all its locations in Central Florida after 17 years in business.

According to WKMG News 6, the closure affected the historic downtown Orlando location, as well as locations in the Milk District, SoDo, and the main campus of the University of Central Florida (UCF).

The restaurant was especially popular for its "Double D's"—signature tacos that combined soft and hard tortillas held together with cheese—and for staying open late, becoming a go-to spot for those looking for food after midnight.

Surprise closure: Managers caught off guard, doors shut

An employee at a business near the downtown location told News 6 that on Sunday night she saw Gringos Locos managers rush out, surprised and in tears after learning of the decision, which likely indicates that not even they had prior knowledge.

By Monday morning, the downtown restaurant remained closed with the lights and screens off, even though the listed opening time was 11:00 a.m. The other locations were also closed.

No answers: website active and voicemail

Orlando Weekly tried contact all locations, but the calls went straight to voicemail. The company's website remained active and still displayed job postings, including one for the UCF location.

So far, neither customers nor employees have received an official explanation for the closure.
