'The Flash' didn't go as fast as expected and sank at the box office

The DC movie starring Ezra Miller only managed to gross $130.1 million from its opening weekend.

"The Flash," the movie that DC hoped would relaunch its cinematic universe, collapsed during its opening weekend. The movie starring Ezra Miller and directed by Andy Muschietti only managed to gross $130.1 million at the worldwide box office. This was well below expectations, as DC was relying on "The Flash" to improve numbers at the box office which seem to be sinking more and more every day.

Its opening weekend at the domestic box office is particularly concerning. According to the data provided by Box Office Mojo, the new release made $55 million in its first three days in theaters. Things weren't much better in the rest of the world, where it grossed approximately $75 million.

This data showed how "The Flash," despite being one of the most anticipated movies of the year, failed to draw audiences to theaters and the $130.1 million grossed failed to exceed the film's $200 million budget.

The low numbers made it DC's worst superhero movie opening in the last few years, falling short of the $67 million "Black Adam" made in its first weekend.  The same movie made $400 million from its theatrical run.

Their direct rival did not do well either. The new Pixar movie, "Elemental," was released the same day and left much to be desired. According to Box Office Mojo, the Walt Disney Studios production grossed a total of $29.5 million domestically. The international market was even worse, grossing only $15 million. However, the movie is still pending release in places like Spain (July 14) and the United Kingdom (July 7). These places will have to wait a few more weeks to see Pixar's new animated movie.
