Five people were indicted on federal charges of planning a murder to avenge the death of rapper King Von, legally named Dayvon Bennett. The young artist died in 2020 during a shooting outside a nightclub in Atlanta.

Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston were charged in a Los Angeles court with manslaughter and conspiracy to commit murder for hire.

According to the indictment, the defendants had ties to the hip-hop group Only the Family (OTF), of which King Von was also a member. Prosecutors claim they offered money and musical opportunities in that group in exchange for the murder of rapper Quando Rondo, real name Tyquian Bowman, in revenge for Bennett's death.

These criminal operations allegedly resulted in a shooting in California in 2022, where a cousin of Quando Rondo, Saviay'a Robinson, 24, was killed. All five are charged with this death.

Deadly ambush

The Chicago Sun Times reported details of the episode that ended in Robinson's death, as laid out in the lawsuit. In August 2022, after learning that Quando Rondo was staying at a Los Angeles hotel, Wilson reportedly recruited Jones, Lindsey and Houston to travel there. They flew from Chicago to San Diego with credit cards associated with OTF.

Grant joined them in Los Angeles. He allegedly provided Jones, Lindsey and an unnamed accomplice with firearms, two cars, ski masks and hotel reservations. These three allegedly ambushed Quando Rondo at a gas station. The target was unharmed, but his cousin was killed.

Jones and Lindsey were later allegedly paid for the murder.
