Tucker Carlson breaks his silence and lashes out between the lines at Fox News
The political commentator spoke of the lack of relevant and sincere content on the country's television channels.
In a video from his social networks and at the same time he was broadcasting his show, renowned anchor Tucker Carlson broke the silence after his unexpected departure from Fox News.
In just over two minutes the famous political commentator explained how useful it was for him to get away from the "noise" for a few days, because it helped him to realize the lack of relevant and sincere content on TV channels.
According to Tucker Carlson Tonightmost television debates today are "incredibly stupid" and "irrelevant" because they do not discuss the issues that are really important to the future of the nation and the world.
"War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources: when was the last time you heard a legitimate debate on any of those issues? It has been a long time. Debates like that are not allowed in the U.S. media," he said.
The political commentator affirmed that the country's political parties and their donors reached a consensus about what benefits them and accused them of colluding to avoid having a conversation about it. "The United States is very much like a one-party state," he added.
"When honest people tell the truth, calmly and without shame, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars who have been trying to silence them shrink and become weaker. That is the iron law of the universe. True things prevail," he said. Tucker Carlson adding that, although there are not many places left where Americans talk about real things, as long as there are a few left "there is hope."
Tucker takes his audience to Twitter
The public follows Carlson's new steps with attention. His first post on Twitter since his departure from Fox reached about 40 million users. As many as 12 million people viewed the conservative journalist's video on Thursday. A figure that far exceeds the average number of reproductions of his latest videos in networks. Carlson garnered more attention with this announcement than with his interview with Elon Musk.
Meanwhile, Fox News' viewership drops considerably. During the time slot occupied by Tucker Carlson Tonight, replacement Brian Kilmeade only managed to garner 2.6 million in viewership. That was 21% less than Carlson's average. The 24-54 demographic was the most absent from Kilmeade's premiere. 37% less than with Carlson.
The other Fox News programs were largely unchanged. Tucker Carlson Tonight achieved audience numbers well ahead of its direct competitors. He was followed by All In With Chris Hayes on MSNBC (1.33 million) and Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN (703,000).
