The Department of Justice reveals several photos from Hunter Biden's phone: a lot of cocaine and "apparent crack"
Among other crimes, the president's son is being investigated for lying on his application to buy a gun.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) released some of the photographs found on Hunter Biden's phone. The president's son is being investigated for several charges linked to an alleged lie on a form to obtain a firearm, falsely claiming that he was not addicted to any drugs. Specifically, officials found images related to various narcotics.
In a filing released Tuesday, the DOJ noted that "during November and December 2018, the defendant took multiple photographs of videos apparent cocaine, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia."
The images allegedly illustrate a variety of drugs, including lines of what appears to be cocaine on some type of surface.
Authorities revealed this material as part of an investigation that accuses the president's son of federal charges related to the purchase of a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver in October 2018, while allegedly using drugs in the same month. The problem for Hunter Biden is that he claimed not to consume drugs in the form he had to fill out to acquire said weapon.
In this case, the DOJ showed the images in court to show that he effectively lied when he responded that he did not use drugs at the time of acquiring the weapon.
The president's son pleaded not guilty and the judge in the case explained the terms of his release, which included supervision by a US parole officer in the Central District of California, seeking employment and not using drugs or alcohol. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.
