Spanish singer Rosalía released "Lux" Friday, her fourth studio album, after "Los Ángeles" (2017), "El Mal Querer" (2018) and "Motomami" (2022). It features 18 songs in its physical edition, while the digital version has 15.
The first single, "Berghain," was released on Oct. 27. Days later, on Nov. 5, "Lux" was leaked by several social media users, who shared a link leading to the full content of the album.
With "Lux," Rosalía has taken a 180-degree turn. Used to incorporating a more contemporary style in her songs, as seen in Motomami, this time the Spanish artist brings more classical melodies using the instruments of the London Symphony Orchestra.
In addition, in her new album, Rosalía dares to sing in several languages. There are 14, to be exact. In addition to Spanish and Catalan, her mother tongues, the artist features English, Latin, Japanese, Italian, German, Ukrainian, Arabic, Sicilian, French, Mandarin, Hebrew and Portuguese.
Apart from "Berghain," the album includes songs such as "Reliquia," "Sexo, Violencia y Llantas," "La Perla," "La Yugular" and "La Rumba del Perdón."
The promotion for "Lux" began in mid-October. An image of the album cover was projected on one of the screens in Times Square. Subsequently, the same thing happened in Callao, a central plaza in Madrid, Spain, along an unexpected appearance by Rosalía herself, causing hundreds of fans to flock to the venue to see her.
