Hamas releases a new group of hostages on the fourth day of truce

Three French citizens, two German citizens and six Argentine citizens were released.

After it was confirmed that the truce between Israel and Hamas was extended for two more days Monday, Hamas released 11 hostages who were being held captive since the terrorist group began carrying out its attacks against Israel on Oct. 7. According to Al Ansari, Qatari minister of foreign affairs, those released were three French citizens, two German citizens and six Argentine citizens.

The families of the hostages received notification that their relatives would be released.

During the extension of the truce, another 20 hostages, women and children, will be released by Hamas between Tuesday and Wednesday. The news was confirmed by the spokesman for the White House National Security Council, John Kirby , during a press conference held Monday. The Israeli government's request will have been fulfilled: 10 hostages released to establish an armistice day.

"Those released from Israeli prisons include 30 minors and 3 women, while the Israelis released from Gaza include three French citizens, two German citizens and six Argentinian citizens, who were handed over to the ICRC," Al Ansari detailed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As reported by Fox News, this is the list of the hostages released on Monday: Or Yaakov, 16; Yagil Yaakov, 12; Eitan Yahalomi, 12; Sahar Kalderon, 16; Erez Kalderon, 12; Karina Engel-Bart, 51; Mika Engel, 18; Yuval Engel, 11; Emma Cunio, 3; Yuli Cunio, 3; and Sharon Alony Cunio, 34. According to the IDF, they crossed into Israel from Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south of the country.

Aside from the release of the hostages, four trucks with fuel and 200 with humanitarian aid entered Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing.

In total, Hamas captured 240 hostages during the Oct. 7 attacks, which began the war between Israel and the terrorist group.
