According to various British media reports, the popular mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor is being investigated by the Irish Police for "online hate speech" after he published strong criticism against mass migration and the border policies of Leo Varadkar's government, the Prime Minister of Ireland.

According to The Telegraph, McGregor is being investigated "amid rising concerns about the spread of hate speech online" after the demonstrations and riots that took place in Dublin last week, after three children were attacked with a knife by a person whose identity has not been revealed by the authorities.

McGregor, who echoed rumors that the attacker was an illegal migrant, said on his social media profile X that Ireland was "at war" after the knife attack and subsequent protests.

Irish law enforcement authorities, meanwhile, said rumors about the attacker's nationality were "hateful assumptions" and misinformative. They also claimed that far-right groups were behind the demonstrations, an approach that McGregor questioned.

"Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today. Our chief of police had this to say on the riots in the aftermath. Drew, not good enough. There is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place, and there has been zero action done to support the public in any way, shape or form with this frightening fact. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Make change or make way. Ireland for the victory. God bless those attacked today, we pray," the fighter wrote on X. He has not stopped criticizing Prime Minister Varadkar since the beginning of the week.
