IDF arrested Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi in West Bank for inciting terrorism
"What Hitler did to them was a joke. We will drink their blood and eat their skulls," the young woman wrote in a post.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arrested Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi on Monday for threatening to "massacre [jewish] settlers and drink their blood" on their social media.
The young woman was arrested in the West Bank during a raid aimed at capturing those suspected of being involved in terrorist or hate speech activities after making a post on Instagram suggesting that what Hitler did to the Jews "was a joke" compared to what awaits them.
"Our message to the settlers: we are waiting for you in all the cities of the West Bank, from Hebron to Jenin. We will massacre them and they will say that what Hitler did to them was a joke. We will drink their blood and eat their skulls. Come on, we are waiting for you," Tamimi posted.
Despite being only 22 years old, the young woman who some consider an icon of the Palestinian struggle against "the Israeli occupation" already has a history of violence that has even led her to prison. Tamimi's notoriety began with the dissemination of videos and photographs in which she was seen confronting Israeli soldiers in several incidents in her hometown, Nabi Saleh.
In 2015, at just 14 years old, the young woman was photographed biting an Israeli soldier. A few years later, when Tamimi was 17 years old, she was found guilty of four charges, including assault on an IDF officer and soldier, incitement, and interference with IDF forces. As a result, she was sentenced to eight months in prison, followed by eight months of probation. Finally, she was released on July 29, 2018, after serving her entire sentence.
Israeli Security Minister welcomes Tamimi's arrest
Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir shared a post via Facebook congratulating the IDF for arresting "terrorist" Ahed Tamimi.
"Congratulations to the IDF and the other security forces who arrested the terrorist and 'human rights activist' Ahed Tamimi Manbi Saleh, who (…) since the outbreak of war has been expressing sympathy and support for the Nazis on social media. Zero tolerance for terrorists and supporters of terrorism!" he expressed.
