Total blockade: Trump Administration did not release a single illegal immigrant in May
Border agents did not let a single undocumented immigrant into the country last month, compared to 62,000 under the Biden Administration at the same time last year.

Soldiers on the southern border
Border Patrol agents did not let any immigrants into the country last month, in what is considered a stunning drop after the Biden administration allowed 62,000 undocumented immigrants into the country in May 2024.
According to an exclusive from The Post, agents caught 8,725 immigrants illegally crossing the southern border in May. That figure represents a 93% decrease from the same month in 2024, when 117,905 people were caught, internal data obtained by the media outlet confirms.
One of the main changes in immigration policy made by Trump was the reversal of former President Joe Biden's catch-and-release plan, which resulted in millions of people crossing the border illegally being able to enter the US.
"Border crossing numbers continue to maintain historic lows, reinforcing the sustained success of our enforcement efforts to secure the homeland and protect American communities," said Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Acting Commissioner Pete Flores.
President Donald Trump himself echoed The Post exclusive, sharing the story on his social network Truth Social. The immigration issue was one of the Republican's main campaign banners.

Full "operational control" of the southern border is near
National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez also told The Post last week that Border Patrol agents are getting closer to their goal of obtaining total "operational control" of the southern border, spurred by the massive drop in illegal crossings.
Perez claimed that under the previous administration "the border was completely open," and that agents were removed from the detention line. The control personnel were only in charge of processing, detention, transportation and surveillance, facilitating the passage of undocumented immigrants, numbering in the thousands every day.
The official added that a year ago, the border, was not secure because there were not enough agents on the line to protect and deter the unbridled entry of illegals. "All of our agents are patrolling the border for the first time in many, many years," he said.

The "most secure border in history"
Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, also touted the dramatic decrease in illegal entries on his social media.
"President Trump's leadership has resulted in the most secure border in this nation's history. In the last 24 hours, Border Patrol detected a total of 95 undocumented immigrants along the entire southern border. That is the lowest number ever recorded. Compare that to the Biden administration, which topped 10,000 a day," he wrote on X.

Homan pleaded for the passage of "the Great and Beautiful Bill" to have a larger deportation operation in the country. "God bless the men and women of CBP and ICE - President Trump is the deciding factor!" concluded the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
