Washington issues a warning about the imminent wave of pro-terrorism demonstrations in the world
Officials urged their citizens to stay away from protests planned for this Friday in front of Israeli and U.S. facilities or to exercise extreme caution because they "have the potential to turn violent."
The U.S. State Department has issued a warning to its citizens because of a wave of pro-terrorism protests planned for this Friday in front of the embassies of Israel and the United States, among other sites, around the world.
Officials issued the warning following a spate of calls on social media to participate in various "demonstrations at U.S. and Israeli facilities on Friday, October 25, 2024."
The State Department urged U.S. citizens to avoid attending such events "whenever possible" and to exercise extreme caution if in the vicinity of any protests, "as even peaceful demonstrations have the potential to turn violent without warning."
U.S. authorities also called on its citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) in order to obtain information and alerts to facilitate their location in case of emergency in another country.
