The five Marines who were aboard the missing helicopter in California were pronounced dead on Wednesday. The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter went missing Tuesday afternoon.

The Army announced this Wednesday that they had found the missing helicopter in California. The remains of the CH-53E Super Stallion appeared in Pine Valley, an area that is difficult to get to, 44 miles from San Diego, according to the Marine Corps in a press release.

The device was located by civil authorities in Pine Valley, California. The 3rd Marine Wing conducts search and rescue efforts and utilizes ground and aviation units to locate the crew in coordination with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and multiple federal, state and local agencies.

The helicopter departed Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, on Tuesday and was headed to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, according to a source who spoke with USNI News, a news agency specializing in military issues. Hours later, due to the second atmospheric river in the state, the Army reported that the helicopter "was reported lost."
