Paramedics Peter Cichuniec and Jeremy Cooper were convicted Friday for giving a lethal dose of ketamine, a sedative, to twenty-year-old Elijah McClain in 2019.

The jury in the case that became one of the focal points of the Black Lives Matter movement also convicted Cichuniec of illegal drug administration. The sentence for both could mean years in prison, according to AP.

The paramedics from Aurora Fire Rescue in Colorado are two of the five individuals that have been sued for the death of Elijah McClain. Of the three police officers sued in the case, only one, Randy Roedema, was convicted of criminally negligent homicide.
