David DePape faces 50 years in prison after being convicted of two federal charges for the attack on Paul Pelosi

David DePape, the man who attacked Paul Pelosi, husband of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with a hammer, has been found guilty of two federal crimes. He faces up to 50 years in prison for attempting to kidnap a U.S. official and for attacking a direct relative of a federal official.
After hearing the ruling, the Pelosi family issued a statement thanking the country for its support throughout these "difficult time" and praised Paul Pelosi's "composure and courage" the night he was attacked and during the week of the trial.
