The vehicle struck the woman by the side. As she tried to flee the scene, several officers threw her to the ground and arrested her.
A video of Long Island, N.Y., police went viral after their action led to the shocking arrest of a woman threatening bystanders with a gun. As can be seen in the images posted on Reddit, a woman was on the sidewalk between Bellmore Ave. and Jerusalem Ave. in Bellmore, N.Y., around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The woman was holding a gun and pointing it at drivers and bystanders. She even pointed it momentarily at her own head. Just as it looks like she is about to flee, tires begin to screech, and a Nassau County Police car appears and strikes the woman on the left side of her body:
After this, the woman tries to run, but two officers get out of the vehicle, throw her to the ground and attempt to detain her as they shout, "Drop the gun!" She tries to resist, and appears to attempt to grab the gun back after it had fallen to the ground. However, police are able to subdue her before she can take it.
