A man in his 20s is in custody after being arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the stabbing murders of four University of Idaho students whose bodies were found in a rental house near campus last month.
Pennsylvania State Police, along with the FBI, arrested him in the Scranton, Pa. area Friday morning. A local ABC news outlet identified the man as Bryan Kohberger, and according to reports, he is a college student but was not attending the University of Idaho.
Details of the murders
News of the arrest comes nearly seven weeks after Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle's boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, were found dead in their off-campus home.
Local police had received more than 13,000 tips related to the case, in addition to thousands of digital media submissions. And the search still continues for the white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra believed to have been near the house on Nov. 13.
The police chief and university officials are expected to give an update on the case at a press conference in the coming hours.
