Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has reacted to the announcement by Texas Governor Greg Abbott that he will send undocumented immigrants to the "sanctuary city" of Chicago, as he is already doing with New York and Washington D.C. The mayor said: "I am happy to take and drain Texas of all its residents. I would not want to live in a state with such a governor. We will rent the buses ourselves next time to bring them here."

Lightfoot claimed a few days ago that the busing program for illegal immigrants mandated by Texas Governor Greg Abbott was "a stain on the nation." "This absolutely cannot continue. We need to come together at this time; help these people in need. We should not be in this situation where families are being thrown onto buses," she said.

Gregg Abbot persists in sending immigrants to big cities

A few days ago, the governor reiterated in a press release his firm decision to send illegal immigrants to other states.

"To continue to provide much-needed relief to our small, overrun border cities, Chicago will join other sanctuary cities such as Washington, DC and New York City as an additional drop-off location," the release explained. "Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout her city's responsibility to welcome everyone.regardless of their legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action when these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them," Abbott added, referring to the mayor of Chicago.
