A New York appeals court has ruled that Trump's sentencing in the Stormy Daniels hush money case will not be deferred. The president-elect has lost the emergency appeal to stay that ruling.

Thus, Judge Merchan's sentencing will take place, if nothing changes, on Friday, January 10, just 10 days before the Republican takes office as president in Washington, D.C.

The New York appeals court's decision comes after Donald Trump's lawyers filed a more than 500-page appeal in favor of postponing the sentencing. However, Judge Ellen Gesmer decided to dismiss the appeal and ordered to continue with the sentence that Judge Merchan will impose on Donald Trump.

Prior to this, Trump had already requested the annulment of the verdict in the case based on last year's Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity, which was denied by Merchan.

"Today, President Trump's legal team moved to stop the unlawful sentencing in the Manhattan DA's Witch Hunt. The Supreme Court's landmark Immunity decision, the state constitution of New York, and other established legal precedent mandate that this meritless hoax be immediately dismissed," Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.
