Sylvester Stallone announces his intention to quit acting
Fans will surely miss the actor's performances in hits like 'Rambo,' but Stallone says it's for the benefit his mental health.
Actor Sylvester Stallone revealed in an interview to IndieWire that after executive producing and starring in Paramount's Tulsa King, he may remain behind the camera on all his future creative projects.
Sylvester Stallone has been behind great roles since Rocky and the subsequent sequels through 2006's Rocky Balboa, which helped establish him as an artist who combines his on-screen talent with writing and directing skills as well.
It's hard to imagine a world without Stallone in hits like Rambo or The Expendables, although the actor admits it's something that will benefit his mental health.
"When you're doing Rambo, after a while it's like — you want to attack the pancakes in the morning, you want to throw your coffee against the wall, you actually breathe that kind of anger," he told IndieWire. "If you keep it going, it reflects in your eyes."
'Tulsa King' could be "my swan song"
Tulsa King will be a fittingly premature farewell from the movie star. From writer and director Taylor Sheridan, who created, wrote and directed Yellowstone, Stallone plays a New York mob lieutenant who gets out of prison and heads to Tulsa, Okla. to start a new gang.
At one point in the IndieWire interview, he was asked if he would like to star in a project that he directed in the future. He replied: "I might, but maybe not the acting. ... I doubt the acting aspect of it," Stallone continued. "I think this might be my swan song."
