The White House concealed a second FBI search of the Penn Biden Center

Agents inspected the president's office after his personal attorneys found the classified documents in his office on Nov. 2.

In mid-November 2022, the FBI searched the offices of the Penn Biden Center after Joe Biden's lawyers found about 10 classified documents in his private office there on Nov. 2.

CBS News first reported the news, which had not been disclosed by the White House. According to sources, there was no search and seizure warrant, and the number of agents involved is not known. There is also no information as to whether the officers recovered any additional documents.

it was confirmed that the president's team gave approval for the FBI's search. A Jan. 14 statement from Biden's personal attorney, Bob Bauer, mentioned the government was conducting "its inquiry, including taking possession of any documents and reviewing any surrounding material for further review and context."

The White House, Biden's lawyers, the Justice Department and the FBI declined to offer comment to CBS News.

Between 25 and 30 documents

In total, federal authorities have recovered between 25 and 30 classified documents to date, including some labeled top secret, from the president's office at the Penn Biden Center and at his home in Wilmington, Del. The recovered material includes records from Biden's time as vice president under the Obama administration as well as his prior stint as a senator.

When the FBI conducted the consensual search of the Wilmington home on Jan. 20, Bauer and the White House announced it the next day. However, Biden and his team have consistently refused to comment on the contents of the documents as well as the level of classification, saying that these "have been turned over to the appropriate authorities and will be part of the ongoing investigation."
