Additional classified documents found in Biden's Delaware home
The White House confirmed that more files were kept at the Wilmington home than first disclosed.
This Saturday, the White House confirmed that five additional pages of classified documents were found at Joe Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware. The discovery came Thursday, hours after the president’s aides said it that a single sheet had been found in a storage area adjacent to the home's garage.
The recent discovery is in addition to the other files that were revealed this week. While the first batch was discovered in an office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in early November (before the midterm elections), it was only made public this Monday. The office in question was used by Biden during his time as Vice President of the United States.
As the days went by, the White House provided updates, such as the news that came from the house Biden owns in Wilmington. At first they said that the single page that was found was 'lost' in the garage. However, the latest announcements indicate that a total of six pages of documents have been found.
Biden's silence
The new information doesn’t help the president’s situation. He is already under investigation by special prosecutor Robert Hur, appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland. "The extraordinary circumstances require the appointment of special counsel for this matter," Garland said.
Biden said he was "surprised" by the findings and said he is cooperating with the Justice Department investigation. However, so far he has avoided the issue as much as possible. His lawyers, who have also refused to give a statement, have limited themselves to issuing statements expressing their "continued collaboration.”
