Luka Doncic unleashes his legacy with the Dallas Mavericks and scores 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks

The Slovenian player has the fourth best scoring record in an NBA game.

Nobody could have imagined that after Joel Embiid's colossal performance (70 points) with the Philadelphia 76ers against the San Antonio Spurs this Monday, another player would surpass that score in less than a week. Fate had something else in mind for Luka Doncic.

The Dallas Mavericks star's performance will go down in history. He scored 73 points in the Texas franchise's victory against the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena. Now, he is behind Wilt Chamberlain (100 points in one game and 78 points in another) and Kobe Bryant (81 points) in the ranking of top scorers per game. Doncic had a 75% shooting rate (making 25 of his 33 shots), making him the first to overcome the 70-point barrier with that rate.

Likewise, the 24-year-old Slovenian player managed to break the Dallas Mavericks' scoring record in addition to improving his record in a single game (the previous one was 60 points). Regardless of his score, Doncic finished the game with 10 rebounds and seven assists.

His milestone came on the fourth anniversary of the death of Kobe Bryant. Many people believe this was Doncic's tribute to one of the greatest legends of the NBA. It also coincided with the day he learned that he will be a starter in the next All-Star Game, which will be played in February.
