US strikes Houthi positions in Yemen
Central Command said the offensives were carried out against facilities used in attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant ships. The bombings follow a series of attacks by the Iranian-backed terrorists against Israel.
U.S. forces struck positions occupied by the Houthis, the Iranian-backed Yemeni terrorists, in Yemen, per U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
The offensives were launched against Houthi targets in Sana'a, Yemen's capital, and on the coast of the Arab country, territories controlled by the pro-Iranian terrorists.
"On Dec. 30 and 31, U.S. Navy ships and aircraft targeted a Houthi command and control facility and advanced conventional weapon (ACW) production and storage facilities that included missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV)," CENTCOM said in a statement.
"These facilities were used in Houthi operations, such as attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. In addition, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force aircraft destroyed a Houthi coastal radar site and seven cruise missiles and one-way attack UAVs over the Red Sea," CENTCOM added.
CENTCOM further stated that no injuries to U.S. troops or damage to military equipment were reported during the bombing raids.
"The strikes are a part of CENTCOM's effort to degrade Iran-backed Houthi efforts to threaten regional partners and military and merchant vessels in the regionn," the statement concluded.
Houthi attacks against Israel
In addition to perpetrating attacks against military and merchant vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the Houthis have carried out several attacks with missiles and drones against Israel since the start of the war in Gaza following the Oct. 7 massacre.
Houthi offensives against the Jewish state have recently intensified, prompting the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to respond with a heavy attack against different positions of the terrorists in Yemen, which included for the first time bombing Sana'a Airport.
Despite the heavy bombardment, the Houthi attacks continued. During Monday night, Israeli forces intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen.
