A 23-year-old man was arrested after attempting to jump the wall at Mar-a-Lago to "spread the gospel" and marry Trump's granddaughter

The U.S. Secret Service arrested early Tuesday morning a man named Anthony Thomas Reyes after he attempted to jump the wall of the Mar-a-Lago mansion of U.S. President Donald Trump in the state of Florida. According to authorities, the 23-year-old admitted to committing this act in order to enter the complex to "spread the gospel"to the Republican leader and marry his teenage granddaughter. Reyes was arrested by Palm Beach police.

As the police report detailed, this would be the second time Reyes has been arrested for this reason, as the young man had been arrested during the New Year's festivities after attempting on that occasion to illegally enter Trump's Florida mansion. Records from the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office detailed thatReyes was initially arrested on trespassing chargesand was held on $1,000 bail, which was later raised to $50,000. Also, the records noted that federal charges will likely be filed against the 23-year-old.

Reyes was taken into custody without further incident

In a statement, the Secret Service explained that Reyes was taken into custody after he set off the property's alarmsafter scaling its perimeter fence. "An adult male was arrested early Tuesday morning by the Palm Beach Police Department for unlawfully entering the Mar-a-Lago Club property in Florida. Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms," he reported.

Also, the Secret Service detailed that the 23-year-old did not present resistance or engage in violent or defiant attitudesduring his arrest. "U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene. Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing."

Trump was not present

According to different media outlets, the president was in the nation's capital at the time Reyes attempted to illegally enter his property during the early hours of Tuesday morning, in an incident in which no injuries or other suspects were reported. The police report of his arrest also detailed that the Palm Beach police had already issued a warning to Reyes for trespassing the first time he tried to enter Mar-a-Lago, an occasion in which the U.S. president was present.
