Jim Copenhaver, one of the aides wounded in the attack on Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, has died
Copenhaver was one of two attendees who were seriously injured during the July 13, 2024, shooting, an attack in which David Dutch was also wounded and volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore lost his life.

Jim Copenhaver, one of the attendees who survived, with serious injuries, the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024, passed away at the age of 76.
The Republican caucus in the House of Representatives announced the news in a public statement.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Copenhaver, who was seriously injured in the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania," the official account of the House Republicans stated.
"Jim endured unimaginable hardships with strength and perseverance. We join his family and loved ones in mourning his loss and pray for them during this difficult time," the lawmakers added.

Copenhaver was one of two attendees who were severely injured during the July 13, 2024, shooting, an attack in which David Dutch was also wounded and volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore lost his life.
During the shooting, Copenhaver was struck by two bullets; one of the bullets hit his tricep, while a second bullet entered his body, damaging his colon and causing severe, permanent nerve damage.
Although he was discharged from the hospital approximately one week after the attack, the injuries had permanent aftereffects on his health. In subsequent interviews with local media outlets such as KDKA-TV, Copenhaver recounted the confusion and terror he felt during the event.
"I was standing there looking at the giant screen behind me, and the next thing I know, I felt a tug on my sleeve," the attendee recalled.
"I saw something go by pretty fast and heard a 'pew.' I heard it, but at that moment I didn't realize I'd been shot. But I turned around, and that's when I was hit by the second shot," he explained.
Copenhaver's death once again brings into the public spotlight the aftermath of the violent incident that occurred in Butler County, at a time when the country is mourning the victims and their families.
