Devin Booker, star of the Phoenix Suns, became the NBA’s highest-paid player per year after signing a contract extension through the 2029–2030 season.
The basketball player of Hispanic heritage agreed to a contract extension with the Suns worth $72.5 million per season, surpassing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the NBA’s highest-paid player annually.
The news was confirmed by Shams Charania, one of the NBA’s most trusted insiders.
"Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker has agreed to a two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension with the franchise through the 2029-30 season, the highest annual extension salary in NBA history," Charania said.
With this extension, Booker will earn a total of $316 million for the five seasons he will be in Phoenix.
This marks the Suns’ second major move in just a week after a disappointing season. The Arizona franchise recently parted ways with Kevin Durant in what became the biggest trade in NBA history.
