Kevin Durant, with the Phoenix Suns
Two Rings, eighth-leading scorer in league history, Rookie of the Year, twice named Finals MVP and season MVP on one occasion, four Olympic gold medals, ... In short, one of the great legends of the NBA. Kevin Durant has decided to embark on a new adventure with the Houston Rockets.
The Texan franchise made Durant's arrival official, in a deal that has involved as many as seven franchises and more than a dozen players—including Clint Capela, formerly of the Atlanta Hawks—making it the biggest trade in NBA history.
"OFFICIAL: The Houston Rockets today announced they have acquired forward Kevin Durant and center Clint Capela via a seven-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns," the Rockets confirmed via a release issued Sunday.
The player himself echoed the news, sending a farewell message to the Suns, the franchise where he has spent the past two seasons.
"My time in Phoenix has come to an end. All these stops along the journey have really impacted me in a positive way. Remember it’s a world behind the scenes, and those who make things work in that space, work tirelessly to make our lives easier as players. I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates distant cousins, it’s all a family that I’m grateful to be apart of, no matter what. I truly believe this NBA is a one big community. Much love to Arizona. Houston, Can’t Wait!" wrote Durant on X.
