Immigration agents detained a Mexican undocumented immigrant who threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump in a letter. The information was confirmed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in a statement.
According to authorities, on May 21, a Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intelligence officer received a handwritten letter from Ramon Morales Reyes, in which he threatened to shoot President Trump in the head at one of his rallies and promised to self-deport afterward.
"We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans. We have done more for this country than you white people," Morales Reyes wrote in the letter, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
"You have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming," the immigrant said.
The following day, ICE agents arrested the 54-year-old Mexican immigrant, who is currently being held at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, pending deportation, according to DHS.
He entered the country illegally at least nine times
Meanwhile, Secretary Noem referenced the assassination attempt on the president in Pennsylvania and accused former FBI Director James Comey of inciting violence against Trump.
"This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump."
