Senior Homeland Security officials from the Donald Trump administration announced Thursday the arrest of a top MS-13 leader in Virginia. The criminal organization MS-13, which originated in El Salvador, operates in the United States and across the globe.

"Early this morning, one of the top leaders of MS-13 was arrested. He was the leader of the East Coast, one of the top three in the entire country, right here in Virginia.... He is an illegal alien from El Salvador - and he will NOT be living in our country much longer," stated Pamela Bondi, the attorney general at a press conference.

Bondi added in her X profile that "The Department of Justice will not rest until we get America back to being a safe country."

Following the news, Trump posted a message on Truth Social thanking his team for their fight against crime: "Great job by Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, Tom Homan, and Kristi Noem, in capturing the leader of MS13 - Great stuff!" the president said.

Kash Patel, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), spoke at the conference about the arrest of the Salvadoran criminal: "This task force is going to go everywhere as necessary, across the United States to bring the form of justice and measured security and safety that our American citizens deserve... If they are going to continue to commit acts of violent crime, they will meet the same fate as this individual did this morning."

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, also present at the press conference, emphasized the swift creation of the task force stating, "This task force was designed in the White House ... designed in a very quick period of time and put in place immediately ... and I cannot emphasize enough the support and leadership of the new administration that is SO DIFFERENT from what we saw (under Biden)."

So far, authorities have not released the name of the captured criminal or details about the legal process he will face following his arrest.
