A wave of robberies is hitting Los Angeles. For weeks now, several robberies have been reported at convenience stores and shopping malls in the city. The act is committed mainly by young people in a new trend that is called "flash rob" and is worrying authorities.

Videos of robberies of stores such as 7-Eleven have been posted on social networks. The youths arrive in groups and begin looting the stores. Most of the assaults occur on Friday afternoons. Similarly, it was learned that there are some businesses that have been robbed at least twice.

In fact, the LAPD reported that the Organized Robbery Task Force has filed a criminal investigation into the defendants involved in the "flash rob" that occurred on Oct. 4 at the Westfield Topanga Mall.

VOZ did a report on the situation and talked to neighbors of some of the targeted stores. The people are demanding that the authorities address the situation urgently and highlight that they are fearful of an escalation of these events. It is estimated that at least 14 stores have been attacked in three months.

"It seems wrong to me. It's so outrageous because it's not right what they're doing," said Los Angeles resident Liliana Garcia.

Meanwhile, some parents of those suspected of involvement in the robberies have gone to authorities to turn in their children. Dominic Choi, Los Angeles police chief, maintained that the parents have done the right thing and asked that they continue to do so.
