Georgia school shooting: Mother's criminal record shows Colt Gray had a troubled home life
The suspect's mother, Marcee Anne Gray, 43, has an extensive criminal history, which includes drug use, property damage and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The 14-year-old Colt Gray, the prime suspect in the killing of four people and wounding nine others at a Georgia high school, had a troubled home life, according to new details related to his mother's criminal record.
According to a report from Fox News Digital, suspect Colt Gray's mother, Marcee Anne Gray, 43, has an extensive criminal history, which included drug use, property damage and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Marcee Gray's relationship with Colt's father, Colin Gray, was also tumultuous, leading to a separation and split custody of the children, the news network reported.
On a day-to-day basis, the 14-year-old lived with his father, Colin, while his two younger siblings resided with their mother, Marcee.

Less than a year ago, in November 2023, Marcee Gray was arrested for writing two words on the side of her husband's pickup truck and for illicit drugs.
According to Fox News Digital, "The arrest warrant states that Gray had a glass jar containing methamphetamine, a 'baggie' containing fentanyl, another 'baggie' containing multiple muscle relaxants, and a glass pipe 'used for the ingestion of narcotics.'"
According to the arrest warrant, Marcee Gray concealed the identity of her Nissan Rogue vehicle by using a Nissan Kick license plate.
A month later, in December, Colt Gray's mother "was charged and pleaded guilty to single counts of using a license plate to conceal identity, criminal damage to property in the second degree and criminal trespass/family violence," the media outlet reported.
The woman was prosecuted under Georgia's First Offender Act, allowing eligible defendants to plead guilty without conviction.
In this case, Gray served the first 46 days of confinement in jail, replacing five full years of her sentence, but remaining on probation.
While on probation, Gray was prohibited from having contact with Colin Gray except through a third party for any matters relating to their children.
Colt Gray's mother was also required to participate in a family violence intervention program and stay away from drugs and alcohol.
Before the 2023 case, she also had many run-ins with the law, specifically for minor traffic offenses.
In 2014, she faced a misdemeanor traffic charge in Forsyth County and another speeding charge in Barrow County.
Several years earlier, in 2008, she was charged with an alleged 2007 offense involving driving under the influence of alcohol.
Now, Marcee Gray's husband, Colin, faces tough charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter following the shooting perpetrated by their son Colt.
"His charges are directly connected with the actions of his son and allowing him to possess a weapon," Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said in a news conference.
