A little less than two years before the election is held, the Republican sheriff of Riverside County, California, Chad Bianco, made his candidacy official to become the next governor of California and succeed Gavin Newsom in office, whose term expires in early 2027.

"What is it that they have given us? Rampant crime, higher taxes, the highest cost of living in our nation, tent encampments in every major city, more fentanyl deaths, catastrophic fires, a broken homeowners' insurance market," Sheriff Bianco said of Newsom and his team at his campaign launch event. "Californians deserve better."

"I believe CA is in desperate need of an honest, ethical moral Governor with integrity whose only interest is to serve all of Californians," he added.

The California gubernatorial candidate noted that, to solve the immigration crisis and its derivative consequences affecting the entire country, but especially his state, is to "abolish and repeal SB54," a state bill that "was designed to keep criminals from being deported."

It is no secret that Sheriff Bianco is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump. In fact, he was spotted at ocasional rallies of the president during the election campaign.

In addition, it was he who arrested the man accused of wanting to assassinate the now president during a rally in Coachella (California) just under a month before the November 2024 election.

If he wins, he would be the first Republican governor of California since Arnold Schwarzenegger, who held the office from 2003 to 2011.
