Former White House lawyer says Supreme Court will rule 9-0 in favor of Trump in Colorado case

On Tuesday, the former president became the first candidate to be disqualified under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

Exabogado de la Casa Blanca afirma que la Corte Suprema fallará 9-0 a favor de Trump en el caso de Colorado

Ty Cobb, exabogado de la Casa Blanca, en entrevista con CNN.

Ty Cobb, who served as White House counsel during the Trump Administration, stated in an interview with CNN's Erin Burnett that the Supreme Court will quickly address Colorado's voter disqualification case and will most likely rule unanimously in favor of the former Republican president.

“I think this case will be handled quickly. I think it could be 9-0 in the Supreme Court for Trump,” Cobb said during the conversation. “It will be a race to get there. I mean, the Supreme Court, though, will not hesitate to move quickly on this. They know what is at stake.”

Cobb's comments come after the Colorado state Supreme Court ruled that Trump could not appear on the Republican primary ballot for allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 election results and fuel an insurrection.

The court relied on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

The ruling generated much criticism both inside and outside the Republican Party, as it is the first time in US history that a state court has banned a candidacy based on said amendment.

The former White House lawyer explained that “the law is very clear” and, therefore, he is very sure that the U.S. Supreme Court will rule in favor of Trump.

“The real key issue in this case is, is Trump an officer in the United States in the context in which that term is used in Article Three of the 14th Amendment?” Cobb told CNN. “In 2010, Chief Justice [John] Roberts explained in free enterprise that people don't vote for officers of the United States.”

The former official also said that the ruling in Colorado vindicates Trump's "insistence that this is a political conspiracy to interfere with the election and that … he's the target and people shouldn't tolerate that in America."
