The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday that the next round of nuclear talks with the United States is scheduled for Sunday.

"The next round of Iran-U.S. indirect dialogue is planned for next Sunday in Mascat," Oman, Iranian ministerial spokesman Esmail Baqai said in a statement carried by AFP.

The Iranian spokesman announced Monday that his country would "soon" present its proposal for a possible nuclear deal, after receiving a U.S. offer that did not convince Tehran.

For his part, Donald Trump said the dialogue would take place on Thursday, but Baqai indicated that Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, his country's chief negotiator, "will travel to Norway on Wednesday and Thursday."

Discussions remain stalled, as Trump has maintained his rejectionism over possible uranium enrichment by Iran.

According to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump informed Israel on Monday that he sent Iran a "reasonable offer," without further details.

Putin proposes to participate in talks with Iran

Donald Trump spoke last week with his Russian peer, Vladimir Putin.

After the conversation, Trump claimed to have told the Kremlin leader that "time is running out for Iran to make a decision on nuclear weapons."

Likewise, the U.S. president said he believes Putin agrees with him that "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon."

During the telephone exchange, Putin proposed to participate as a mediator in the talks between Iran and the US.

"President Putin suggested that he would participate in the talks with Iran and that, perhaps, he could be helpful in bringing this to a quick conclusion," Trump said on Truth Social after the call with the Kremlin leader.

US-Iran negotiations, a long history

Enemies for more than four decades, Iran and the United States have held several rounds of negotiations since April, brokered by Oman, in an attempt to conclude an agreement to prevent Tehran from equipping itself with nuclear weapons.
