Reserve soldier Omer Balva, 22, died Friday night in an anti-tank missile attack near the border with Lebanon, according to statements by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported by The Times of Israel.

The outlet reported that the reservist had dual American and Israeli citizenship. His parents were from Israel. Balva grew up in Rockville, Maryland, and was in the United States when the war began. He traveled to Israel after being called up to report for duty.

The IDF also reported that it responded to Hezbollah, responsible for the attacks in which Balva was killed, by firing on the group's facilities in southern Lebanon.
