Tren de Aragua is also operating in Mexico. Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar Garcia Harfuch confirmed that the feared Venezuelan criminal gang is linked to sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

"We have investigations to continue detaining these people, we do not have a registered expansion as such, but we do have registered the activity of these subjects here in Mexico City," said Garcia during a press conference alongside President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Garcia's statements came just after it became known that the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) arrested three members of the criminal cell. The subjects were identified as Jeiker Javier, 23; Gregorio Mata, 19; and Jhondri Enrique Alejandro, 28.

"Immediately, and in accordance with police protocols, they underwent a security check, after which they found 100 bags with a solid substance in stone similar to cocaine, 50 grams of the same substance and 10 packages of marijuana," reported the Mexican newspaper El Universal.

The news comes at a time when the criminal group is increasingly widespread in the Americas. The criminal group already has a presence in almost every country in the region, including the United States.
