TOMMY LOWE, 93: "That's bland NOTHING. It's pitiful!"
"I don't think [she knows the story of Cracker Barrel] Spending $700M to do THAT?…
During the interview, the 93-year-old founder explained that the rebranding was nothing more than "Throwing money out on the street," taking into account not only the decision to revert to the previous logo, but also that such a change was valued at $700 million. "Oh, that's crazy. That's … bland nothing," commented Lowe, who added that he found the new logo "pitiful" and warned the company's current executives that they needed to keep it "country" if they wanted to survive in the marketplace.
Elsewhere in the interview, Lowe explained that Cracker Barrel "It was always a country store for country people," and added that for some reason the current management "just doesn'tunderstand." He added that the new logo was "unfortunate." Similarly, the company founder lashed out at current CEO Julie Masino - who previously ran the Taco Bell restaurant chain - telling WTVF NewsChannel 5 that she didn't seem to understand the brand's roots. "What’s Taco Bell know about country food?" Lowe wondered.
"We said we would listen, and we have"
"At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon," the company added.
