Musk delivers the first Cybertruck, the Tesla pick-up 'built for any planet'
The truck is capable of reaching 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds and has an armored body that is bulletproof.
Elon Musk set out to make "sci-fi a reality," and he has fulfilled his goal. The CEO of Tesla, Inc., has delivered his latest invention, the Cybertruck. It is a powerful designer pick-up that was first unveiled four years ago as a concept car, a vehicle that is not mass-produced to be sold, but to be displayed at events or in showrooms.
In a private event held at the Tesla Gigafactory in Texas, Musk officially launched the company's latest vehicle, and the first customers who ventured to buy it received their new truck.
The company has spent several years studying how to improve the performance of the Cybertruck until, finally, they found the perfect model. The final version has some differences compared to the concept. For example, engineers reduced the size of the vehicle by 10% and made some modifications to the body.
Zero to 60 in 2.6 seconds
Tesla, Inc. says the car has "more utility than a truck, faster than a sports car." This last part was demonstrated with a video showing a Cybertruck outrace a Porsche 911 at top speed, with the former also towing a Porsche 911. It is capable of going from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds.
Being a pick-up, engineers paid attention to towing capacity. It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and hold 2,500 pounds of payload. The durability of the vehicle is also taken care of. Its stainless steel coating is capable of withstanding the impact of bullets from 45-caliber and 9-millimeter firearms, suffering hardly any damage. Its windows can repel a baseball flying at 70 miles per hour without breaking.
As for its price, Musk has put the Cybertruck on sale between $39,900 and $69,900.
