The Thunder record one of the best starts in the NBA and remain the only undefeated team this season
Oklahoma extended its winning streak to seven, remaining unbeaten. The Knicks and Suns, meanwhile, handed the Bulls and Spurs their first losses of the season.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2) screams for the ball against the Pelicans.
The Oklahoma City Thunder ended Sunday night as the NBA’s only undefeated team after routing the New Orleans Pelicans. Oklahoma has opened the season with one of the league’s best starts, with seven consecutive victories. The New York Knicks ended the Chicago Bulls' five-game unbeaten streak and the San Antonio Spurs suffered their first loss of the season to the Phoenix Suns in a rough outing by Victor Wembanyama.
Oklahoma City Thunder equaled its best record to start a season by reaching seven wins without a loss after a 137-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at Paycom Center (Oklahoma City).
"I think we were very organized today," point guard Cason Wallace, who completed five steals in the game, told AFP. "It's important to be well-positioned to stick to our game plan."
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who did not play the fourth period, finished the game with 30 points and seven assists. The 27-year-old Canadian, who won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award the 2024-25 season, reaches 79 consecutive games with at least 20 points tying Oscar Robertson for third on the NBA's all-time list.
The Thunder become the third team in NBA history to start the season with a 7-0 record, following the Boston Celtics (1963-65) and Houston Rockets (1993-95).
Brunson can end Bulls' undefeated streak
Scoring at least 30 points in four of the first six games, Jalen Brunson has confirmed his role as the New York Knicks' primary point guard in the 2025-26 season opener.
New York got a huge boost from its bench, which scored 46 points, and shot 48 percent (20-for-42) from the three-point line. "We'll take the win and focus on tomorrow's game," Josh Hart said. "I want to get back to my best, try to have fun and help the team."
The Bulls put an end to their best streak to start the season since the Michael Jordan era, the 1996-97 season was the last in which they started with five straight wins.
Suns end 'Wemby' honeymoon
The Phoenix Suns handed the San Antonio Spurs their first loss of the season Sunday with a 130-118 victory at Mortgage Matchup Center (Phoenix).
Point guard Devin Booker was the game's top scorer with 28 points and completed a double-double with 13 rebounds.
For the Spurs, Frenchman Victor Wembanyama could do little to avoid defeat by scoring just nine points in 34 minutes in the game.
The young NBA sensation shot for a 27% effectiveness (4/14) connecting on one of his five attempts from the three-point line.
The block rate remained high for Wemby with four but they were countered by his six bad turnovers and four fouls, the latter of which conditioned his performance in the game.
Doncic's triple double in Lakers' win over Heat
The Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 130-120 victory over the Miami Heat with a brilliant performance by Luka Doncic, who completed a triple double of 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
Miami was down by as many as 18 points but managed to close the gap to five until Doncic donned the hero's cape to close out the game in the final minutes. Austin Reaves, who has gained prominence in the early season in the absence of LeBron James, added 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The James family had representation in the game through Bronny, LeBron's oldest son, who played 18 minutes in which he scored one of his four attempts from the field for two points. "It means a lot to have the confidence of the coaches," James commented. "They needed me in zone defense and that was the mission for me tonight."
For Miami, Mexican-American Jaime Jaquez Jr. was the leading scorer with 31 points, his best tally of the season. The Lakers extend their consecutive winning streak to three in third place in the Western Conference.
