NFL suspends Eyioma Uwazurike indefinitely for gambling policy violation
The Denver Broncos player will not be eligible to apply for reinstatement for another year. He is not the first player to violate the rule.
The National Football League (NFL) indefinitely suspended Denver Broncos defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike for violating the competition's policy on sports betting. The 25-year-old bet on NFL games throughout the 2022 season.
"We were informed by the NFL [on Monday] that Eyioma Uwazurike has been suspended by the league indefinitely for violating its gambling policy. Our organization fully cooperated with this investigation and takes matters pertaining to the integrity of the game very seriously," the Broncos said in a statement reported by ESPN.
Uwazurike will not be eligible for reinstatement to the NFL until July 24 of next year.
This is the latest in a string of cases of players violating NFL sports gambling regulations. In April, the NFL suspended Stanley Berryhill III, C.J. Moore, Jameson Williams and Quintez Cephus from the Detroit Lions and Shaka Toney from the Washington Commanders for the same reason.
