A Navy fighter jet crashed into the Red Sea as it attempted to land on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman after conducting military exercises. It is the second aircraft that the military has lost in the last ten days.

As reported from the Department of Defense (DOD), the aircraft was a F/A-18 Super Hornet valued at about $60 million.

The pilot and co-pilot ejected in time, sustaining only minor injuries. They were rescued by a military helicopter.

The fighter jet that eventually crashed experienced an "arresting gear failure" while landing on the USS Harry S. Truman.

Last Monday, the Navy lost another aircraft in the same location under similar circumstances. An F/A-18 fighter jet, valued at $56 million, fell from the USS Harry S. Truman as the carrier maneuvered to evade Houthi fire. The pilot was unharmed.

In recent months, the USS Harry S. Truman has been targeted multiple times by the Yemeni terrorist group known as the Houthis. Currently, a cease-fire in the Red Sea is in place, agreed upon by the Pentagon and the group.
