Loay Alnaji, the pro-Palestinian computer science professor involved in the death of pro-Israel protester Paul Kessler, was arrested Thursday. As reported by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, they charged Alnaji with involuntary manslaughter and assault and imposed a bond of $1,000,000:

Investigation leads to arrest of suspect in connection with the death of Paul Kessler. On November 16, 2023, detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau contacted Loay Alnaji in the City of Moorpark and arrested him for the death of Paul Kessler. Alnaji will be booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for California Penal Code section 192(b) – involuntary manslaughter and his bail will be set at $1,000,000.

The professor now faces "special allegations that Alnaji personally inflicted great bodily injury," according to authorities who, after an investigation, revealed that Paul Kessler died after hitting his head on cement during a fall. This, they explained, caused a brain hemorrhage that ended his life just hours later in the hospital.

News of Alnaji's arrest soon reached the ears of the Jewish community. The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, was quick to react to the news of the arrest and, through a statement reported by the New York Times, celebrated the arrest of the computer science professor:

This arrest shows that violence toward our Jewish community will not be tolerated. We will continue to monitor the case to help ensure justice is served. Our heartfelt condolences continue to be with the family of Paul Kessler, and may his memory forever be a blessing.

The pro-Palestinian professor, investigated for weeks for the death of Kessler

Alnaji's arrest is no surprise. The professor's name was one of the first to come out after the death of Paul Kessler. Two days after the murder of the pro-Israel protester, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office had already targeted the suspect.

In statements collected by The Daily Wire, Jim Fryhoff, Ventura County Sheriff, explained that the first steps of the investigation into Kessler's death led them to proceed to the arrest of a 50-year-old man who was present at the demonstration:

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect and the suspect’s residence. At 4:58 p.m. detectives conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by the suspect in the city of Simi Valley. The suspect was detained until the completion of the search warrant and he was released at 6:15 p.m. During the detention of the suspect, detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the city of Moorpark.
