'We need a miracle': High school quarterback hospitalized after collapsing in the middle of a game
Mason Martin's family announced that he has a brain bleed and a collapsed lung after being tackled in the third quarter of the game.
Karns City High School quarterback Mason Martin is in critical care after collapsing in the middle of Friday's game against Redbank Valley High School in Pennsylvania.
The 17-year-old suffered a brain bleed and has a collapsed lung, the family told KDKA. Martin was tackled in the third quarter of the game, which was later cut short.
"The truth is we need a miracle," his mother, Stacy King Martin, posted on Saturday. She also reported that her son is in critical condition, with little change in the previous 36 hours. She thanked the community for their support and prayers.
The Montineau Youth Football Association said it was collecting donations for the Martin family at all of its games on Saturday and would have a moment of silence before each game.
On social media, the hashtag #MartinStrong is being used to show support.
