Rapper and influencer Lil Tay's death denied

A message announcing her passing appeared on the young woman's Instagram account. The family claims that this is not true and that her profile was hacked.

Rapper and influencer Lil Tay is not dead. A message appeared on the young woman's Instagram account on Wednesday announcing her passing at the age of 14. From the very beginning, the publication was strange. The rapper had not posted since 2018 and, practically out of nowhere, a new post appeared in which, supposedly, the family announced not only her death, but also that of her brother. The publication was subsequently removed:

It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire's sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock. Her brother's passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief. During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's passing are still under investigation. Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.

Lil Tay took 24 hours to deny her death

The rumor took almost a full day to be denied but finally the family spoke out. They did so with the website TMZ where they assured that Lil Tay was still alive and that the news was false. She confirmed that both she and her brother were alive but that it had been a "very traumatizing 24 hours."

I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.

In addition, they claimed, the rapper's profile was hacked and that was the explaination for the strange publication. However, explained the influencer herself, her real followers must have suspected something since her legal name is Tay Tian and not Claire Hope as the post implied:

My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not 'Claire Hope.'
