Man dressed as fairy godmother "helps" girls pick out dresses at Disneyland, California
Nick is one of the "fairy godmother's apprentices" who helps guide girls as they are transformed into princesses at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
A video showing a man dressed as a woman at the entrance of a girls' store in Disneyland (California) has gone viral on social media. The images, shared by the account @jonesville on Twitter, show a man wearing makeup and a fairy godmother's dress.
The man, with a noticeable mustache, introduces himself as Nick "one of the Fairy Godmother's apprentices." He is in charge of welcoming the girls and their parents to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. These salons perform makeovers on children between the ages of 3-12 to transform them into princesses or knights.
Nick's job, according to the video, is to help the girls choose a dress to wear for their princess transformation.
Disney has gone Woke
Last July, Voz Media reported that Disney decided to put a "more inclusive" twist on its fairy godmothers. In August 2022, the company officially changed the position title from "Fairy Godmothers-in-training" to the more neutral "Fairy Godmother's apprentices." According to the company's blog Streaming the Magic:
This change was made in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique stores (the same ones where Nick is seen welcoming the girls).
This is not the only controversy surrounding Disney. In 2021, it removed the phrase "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls" in all of its parks and changed it to a gender-neutral "good afternoon, friends."
