President Donald Trump took center stage Wednesday at a White House Easter luncheon, where he not only explained the importance of Easter around the world, but also touched on various political issues. Before several religious leaders, the Republican leader spoke about the current situation in Iran, as well as the current state of NATO and even Vice President JD Vance.

On the armed conflict in the Persian country, Trump surprised all and sundry by suggesting that he believed that significant geopolitical change had already occurred, but that it was inadvertent. "We have regime change in Iran and we got it by accident. I never liked the idea of regime change. It's way too complex to just put on a wish list... but we got it anyway."

Apropos of his expected prime-time speech on Iran, the president adopted a characteristically humorous and self-referential tone as he jokingly explained that the only thing he will tell the world is how great he is and how efficient he has been at his job in this second administration. "Tonight, I’m making a little speech at 9 o’clock. And basically, I’m gonna TELL EVERYBODY HOW GREAT I AM’. What a phenomenal job I’ve done’," Trump noted.

The Republican leader also used the event to criticize the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO),questioning the value of the alliance and suggesting that the United States maintains stronger ties in other areas. "NATO won't be there if we ever have the big one. We have had some VERY BAD ALLIES IN NATO. We spend BILLIONS on NATO, and when we need them...which we never do," the president explained.

Ukraine and JD Vance

At another point in his address, Trump also made mention of the war in Ukraine, strongly criticizing U.S. financial support for the country and even blaming his predecessor Joe Biden for what he described as excessive spending. "We didn’t have to go into Ukraine… we had a STUPID prez who gave them $350 BILLION. We’re making so much ammo all over the place because we need it because he gave so much away to Ukraine. Got NOTHING for it."

Trump also put Vice President Vance in the spotlight by talking about the ongoing negotiations with Iran, jokingly suggesting that both responsibility and credit will depend on the outcome. "'how’s that moving? The big #Iran deal? If it doesn’t happen, I’m blaming JD Vance' 'If it does happen, I’m taking FULL credit," Trump commented, sparking laughter in the audience.

At another point, Trump also joked about how he is perceived by both critics and supporters, apropos of the latest "No Kings" rallies against him. "They call me KING now, do you believe it? I’m such a king I can’t get a ballroom approved. I could be doing a LOT MORE if I was a KING."
