The Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) ordered a pause on all activities and events related to the so-called "Identity Months."
Among the events affected, at least 11, are those related to Hispanic Heritage Month, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month (which begins in February), Juneteenth, LGBT Pride Month and Holocaust Remembrance Day.
According to the Washington Times, this is an order from the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, and it will be enforced across the entire military. It is an effort to support President Donald Trump's push to end DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) policies in the administration.
"Our unity and purpose are essential to fulfilling the department's combat mission. Efforts to divide the force (putting one group ahead of another) erode camaraderie and threaten mission execution," reads a Pentagon guide obtained by The Washington Times.
"Installations, units, and offices are encouraged to celebrate the valor and success of military heroes of all races, genders, and backgrounds as we restore our warrior culture and ethos," the document added.
